Ask Katz Anything: Pandemic Disaster Edition

Hello! I’ve had a lot of experience covering disasters—disease-related and otherwise—as a journalist (see fig. 1, above). With all of us navigating the COVID-19 pandemic, I wanted to give readers of The Long Version a chance to ask any questions they have. You can ask about my coronavirus coverage so far, epidemic journalism in the Trump era, past CDC screw-ups (including cholera in Haiti), or whatever you want.

If you don’t have a question but want to share your thoughts, that’s cool. If you want to take a shot at answering a fellow reader’s question with your expertise, that’s fine as well. (Just make sure you can back up your claims!)

You can start posting questions right now if you like. I’m going to dive in at noon ET.

Update 12:01 ET: All right, let’s do this.

Update 12:41 ET: Great questions. And so many! If you see a question you really want to see me answer, click the little heart. I think that will help bump them to the top so I’ll be sure to see it.

Update 1:19 ET: I’d only planned to do an hour, but I’m happy to keep going if you all are. Might drop in and out for a bit. Keep asking (and discussing!).
