You've convinced me. I will migrate off substack before 1 January, 2026.

This is technically challenging and financially scary. I have 77 paying subscribers on substack, and I rely on every penny of the ~$6K/year they send me. But I don't think there is any moral alternative to leaving the platform.

Besides, like so many other substackers with small bases, I've already seen a decline in new readers, new subscribers & the much touted Substack 'network effects.' If I don't move, the risks to my income from Substack becoming known as a 'Nazi bar' are at least as great as the risks of moving elsewhere. I've already lost 2 paying subscribers because they didn't want to support a Nazi platform. A trickle can quickly become a flood. It's time to move to higher ground.

I signed the 'Substackers against Nazis' declaration and thought of leaving then, but I convinced myself that Substack would clean up its act, or at least become Nazi-agnostic. But facts have proven otherwise. Oh well.

Like Jonathan and Marisa, I moved off of Substack onto Beehiiv. There's no need to stay on Substack. I understand why some people haven't but I wish they'd reconsider.

Substack is going the way of Quora, allowing the worst of the worst to have a space.

This is why I am in the process of starting over elsewhere. I will not support this fascist crap. Not now, not ever.
